Hand in hand, Karmine Corp, Gentlemates and the Vitality team slammed the door. In a joint press release, the three French e-sport teams announced their withdrawal on Thursday evening from the Take the Throne competition, an international tournament on the game Rocket League organized in Geneva. A decision taken “following the disrespectful and controversial comments made last night by the owner of the organizing club on women’s rights”.
On Wednesday evening, “Pat”, founder of the Swiss structure BDS, stated in a tweet published on X that “a woman who dares to resort to abortion should forever lose the right to have children”. Faced with the controversy, “Pat” deleted this message and apologized in a second message. “I realize after rereading that it is extremely clumsy and does not reflect the depth of my thoughts,” he said, explaining that he reacted “under the influence of emotion” to a video purporting to show an abortion.
But screenshots of the message are still circulating, and other posts from “Pat” have surfaced. In particular, he describes Elon Musk as “the best guy in the world” after a publication which includes transphobic comments from the billionaire.
At the same time as the three French teams announced their withdrawal, claiming to work “for a healthier, inclusive environment and in line with progressive values”, the BDS team announced the pure and simple cancellation of the tournament, scheduled for November 23 at Geneva.

“The words of our founder are his own and in no way reflect the vision and values of the players, collaborators, partners, fans and staff of the structure. » While “Pat” is the sole owner of BDS, “internal measures will be taken quickly”, affirms the structure. On X, many fans of the structure are now calling for the departure of the founder.
