Montreal Alouettes | Jason Maas named CFL Coach of the Year

Despite a disappointing end to the season marked by an elimination in the Eastern final, Montreal Alouettes head coach Jason Maas can find some comfort in the fact of having been named the best of his profession in the CFL for the 2024 season.

In his second year at the helm of the team, Jason Maas led the Alouettes to the top of the East for the first time since 2012, as well as to their first 12-win campaign since 2010. The team finished the season with a 12-5-1 record, the best in the CFL.

Montreal led the CFL in pass completion percentage (71.3), offensive touchdowns conceded (31) and average yards conceded per play (6.32).

Maas joins Marc Trestman (2009), Don Matthews (2002), Charlie Taaffe (2000, 1999) and Marv Levy (1974) among the Alouettes head coaches who have won this award.

The winners were chosen by a panel of voters consisting of members of the Football Writers’ Association of Canada (FCAC) from all nine CFL markets, members of a national chapter of the FCAC and the nine coaches- CFL leaders. A total of 56 people completed their ballots.
