THE SPORT SCAN – The five-time Olympic medalist obviously did not appreciate the announcement of the abandonment of the device he had been experimenting with for two years.
No words. But an emoticon that says a lot. This Thursday morning, Léon Marchand reacted to the abandonment of the generalization of two additional hours of weekly sport in college. And the least we can say is that the five-time Olympic medalist did not appreciate this decision. Indeed, on his account X – formerly Twitter –, the native of Toulouse reposted an article from The Team on the subject, illustrated with a photograph of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron surrounded by several children playing sports, while publishing…a clown’s face. A message as simple as it is powerful and which should get people talking.
A system tested for two years
The system in question had been tested for two years in 715 voluntary establishments and aimed to “to support the sporting practice of middle school students who experience, between the ages of 11 and 14, a significant dropout”indicates the official bulletin of National Education, Youth and Sports. He would have “demonstrated the relevance of the measure for middle school students far from regular practice, its complementarity with physical and sports education (PE) and the offer of school sports associations”but it would be “still perceived as complex to implement and its generalization to all 7,000 colleges does not appear sustainable”, specifies the document. It is for this reason that it was decided to refocus it only “only on colleges classified as REP/REP+, territories where the license rate is the lowest”.
