Zapping Fifteen World 6 Nations Calendar 2024
We saw this weekend, during the international matches of the Autumn Nations Series, a few 20-minute red cards being distributed. This rule, which is still in the testing phase, World Rugby would like it to be definitively adopted. It was also planned that this would be part of the rules put to a vote this Thursday, at the next World Rugby Council. But it could well be that the body has made an about-face regarding this innovation which divides many, and against which France has spoken out.
The French and Irish oppositions heard?
According to our colleagues from Le Figaro, World Rugby would have listened to the complaints of France but also of Ireland on this temporary red card rule. And it would have been decided not to put the final adoption of the new red card to a vote. It will therefore just be a question of knowing whether or not the testing phase continues at the international level. If this is the case, the final adoption of the temporary red card will be studied again in May 2025.
To summarize
We saw this weekend, during the international matches of the Autumn Nations Series, a few 20-minute red cards being distributed. This rule, which is still in the testing phase, World Rugby would like it to be definitively adopted. But this adoption vote will ultimately not take place this Thursday, which is a great victory for the FFR and the LNR.
