The last few years have been dreadful for Max Pacioretty, who has been beset by repeated painful injuries, and it seems that the bad luck is not going to end any time soon.
The Toronto Maple Leafs forward had to leave Saturday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens at the end of the first period following a push to the back from Mike Matheson. Pacioretty’s left leg appears to have made a false movement.

The 35-year-old veteran immediately hit his stick on the ice out of frustration and it was with a lot of pain that he returned to the bench. The Leafs later confirmed his game was over.
“It’s sad for Pacioretty, it’s major,” TSN journalist Darren Dreger said Monday morning on the show First Up. This is what I learned yesterday. No one will reveal the details of the injury. I think we can all see he was holding the back of her leg, right? When he fell on the ice, we saw him needing help to get out. We already knew that his pain was considerable.
“Without being specific, the message I received stated that Max was going to be out for a long time,” Dreger continued. We will know more today.”
Everything seems to point in this direction, because the Leafs have included the name of the hockey player concerned on the disabled list, adding that his case will be evaluated on a weekly basis.
Pacioretty came to Toronto this fall on a professional tryout. He convinced the organization to offer him a one-year contract and has done well so far with 6 points in 13 games.
Two torn Achilles tendons forced the former CH captain to miss the equivalent of two full seasons since 2021. He made a comeback last year with the Washington Capitals, amassing 23 points in 47 games.
