Stade Rennais – : An apathetic SRFC loses again

Stade Rennais – : An apathetic SRFC loses again

For the 11th day of Ligue 1, hosted Toulouse at Roazhon Park and lost for the 6th time this season.

Rennes 0-2 Toulouse

Four days after Julien Stéphan was sidelined, Stade Rennes found Roazhon Park and Toulouse, in a special situation. Sébastien Tambouret, appointed interim, was on the bench, assisted by Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Denis Arnaud, director of the training center. For his first match at this level, Tambouret aligned a 4-2-3-1 with the returns of Gouiri and Assignon in particular, Seidu repositioned in the axis of defense. All under the eye of Jorge Sampaoli, new coach expected present in the stands, but not yet official having not yet signed.

A catastrophic start to the match

Rennes got their foot on the ball but still showed hesitation technically. Launched on the counter, Aboukhlal was caught in front of Mandanda by Truffert (7th). The heat came in the 10th minute for Rennes, when full axis King was found, but caught by Seidu. Mandanda came out badly and Wooh missed his clearance. The Toulouse player at the end of the action did not fit, a miracle for Rennes. Two minutes later, Gboho pierced Assignon and Wooh to cross back for Sierro who did not target. But the verdict fell in the 13th minute, when on a one-touch combination, Gboho crossed near the post for King who finished in front of Mandanda. 1-0, logical.

Toulouse continued to press, and Donnum did not target his volley (15th) in front of an apathetic Rennes. SRFC responded with a combination between Kalimuendo and Blas, who did not hit his shot, but Kalimuendo was offside at the start of the action (18th). Completely on the street, the SRFC conceded a second goal, always coming from the right side where Assignon was very high, and Wooh beaten in the duel. The cross crossed the area to reach Donnum whose shot was blocked by Santamaria… in the Rennes goal. 2-0 for Toulouse in 22 minutes.

Stunned, Rennes were still suffering in their camp but had an opportunity, Assignon not targeting his shot (28th). Gouiri was on target but Restes easily captured (30th) for Rennes' first attempt on target.

No reaction

Return to the field and first change, Mandanda (victim of a crutch) gave way to Gallon. Rennes scored through Blas, found by Kalimuendo, but the goal was canceled for offside by Jota at the start of the action (51st). A little better but still very messy, the SRFC tried to create chances, in vain. Gronbaek and Matusiwa entered on the hour mark, and Gouiri completely missed his header, alone at the penalty spot (64th).

The two teams had a lackluster encounter afterwards, Hateboer and the young Meité entering for the last quarter of an hour. Blas stumbled on defense (82nd), and Rennes finished this match anonymously, towards another inexorable defeat.

In front of Jorge Sampaoli in the stands, Stade Rennais conceded its 6th defeat in 11 days. In the midst of a crisis, Rennes is 13th in Ligue 1, before the match between and Saint-Etienne this evening.
