They dominated, they missed their chances, and they ultimately had to admit defeat. The Université de Montréal Carabins lost in the Canadian grand final of the men’s soccer tournament on Sunday afternoon in Oshawa.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds won 1-0 in dramatic fashion at the very end of the match, with a goal from rookie Joven Mann in the 92e.
On the rain-soaked Vaso’s Field in Ontario, the UBC men’s program earned its 14e national title, and a first since 2013.
It was the sixth time in seven years that the Carabins played in the ultimate match of Canadian university soccer. UdM won the 2018 and 2021 titles.
This year, they achieved it by beating the York Lions 2-1 in the semi-final on Friday. The Blues had won 10 of their 12 regular season games, good for 1is rank of the RSEQ.
For their part, the Thunderbirds defeated the McGill University RedBirds in the semi-final, with a decisive 3-0 victory on Friday in the same Oshawa arena.
In addition to this victory against the Carabins, UBC achieved the double this Sunday, also winning the women’s soccer grand final ahead of the Rouge et Or of Laval University. The only goal of the match was an own goal, in the 45the minute.
