*Let’s give back to Amadou Dia BA what belongs to him* (Mbaye Jacques Diop)

Why do we want to erase Amadou Dia BA from the collective memory? The only Olympic medalist, he is skipped in all the activities of the YOG Dakar 2026 even though he is the only holder of this historic Olympic legitimacy.

First vice president of the World Olympians Association, President of the African Olympians Association, Honorary President of the Senegal Olympians Association, we do not understand this way of not associating him with the organization of the YOG Dakar 2026 as if some wanted to erase his name from the Olympics. This cannot prosper because it is wasted effort. Amadou Dia BA excluded from the organization of the YOG even though he is the only Olympic medalist from Senegal * Bagne-Bagne Nangou. *

This great champion worked hard to reap what he sowed unlike some who want to reap where they did not sow. Success comes to those who are too busy to chase it and this is not the case for Amadou Dia BA who has always adopted the mindset of a winner, of a great champion.

A world-famous athlete, he became a coach and his career in the international sporting world leaves no athlete indifferent. He was Olympic vice-champion at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 in 400m hurdles several times African champion then gold medalist at the first Francophonie Games in Morocco in 1989 in the same discipline. He was also champion of and Senegal several times. He subsequently coached the Senegal 4 x 400 m relay team (4th) for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 then coached the Saudi Arabian national team between 1997 and 200. He is today the director of the African athletics development center based in Dakar but is also (among others) the Vice-President of the World Olympians Association, member of the executive board of the Senegalese National Olympic Committee and member of the executive board of the Association of African National Olympic Committees (ACNOA). He has the best sporting record in Senegal and now he wants to erase his name, or take away his dignity, his integrity and his freedom, no and that will not happen!
