It’s time to stop this madness.” “It takes a lot of certainty to reach such a level of stupidity,” notes journalist Claude Askolovitch. “Justification of street lynchings and the law of the strongest like the thugs who plague our neighborhoods. Except that here, it is the deputy of the 1st constituency of Rennes! » writes Charles Compagnon elected from the municipal opposition of Rennes.
“All violence, from all sides, is unbearable”
Contacted, the elected official refers to the images preceding this violence. “The day before the match, hooligans tore down Palestinian flags, attacked people in the streets, then called for killing Arabs in public and resumed genocidal and pro-Netanyahu chants. They also whistled at the start of the match for a minute of silence dedicated to the deaths of Valencia, explaining that all Spaniards were anti-Semitic. All this is documented. There are videos.” The MP also explains her condemnation of all forms of violence: “Despite all this, we must not respond to violence with violence. All violence, from all sides, is unbearable.”
“Israeli criminal hooligans”
She also specifies: “What is equally unbearable is that political leaders and journalists suggest that, as a result, these Israeli criminal hooligans who were organized, committed and sang atrocities, were attacked because They were Jews. But this is not the case, they were attacked following this chain of violence. We are considered by some to be anti-Semitic, because we refuse to say that these people were attacked because they were Jewish.” The elected official concludes: “The fight against violence, discrimination and racism is the whole story of my political commitment and I will continue to fight for it.”
