Montreal Canadiens goalie prospect Jacob Fowler stopped 30 pucks, helping the Boston College Eagles post a victory after coming from behind, 3-2 at the expense of the University of Maine, Friday night.
It was the Black Bears’ first regulation loss, after starting the season with a 6-0-1 record. The Eagles improved to 6-1-0, with all six wins going to Fowler.
His goals against average is 1.43, while his efficiency rate is .942.
Fowler, the 69th overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, lived up to the caliber he has displayed since arriving in the NCAA, keeping the Eagles in the game while trailing 2 to 0.
The game-winning goal came from Washington Capitals prospect Ryan Leonard, who redirected a nifty pass from potential No. 1 overall pick James Hagens into the net on a two-on-one run with 1 remaining. :34 to be sold in the last third.
These were the Eagles’ first games against a Hockey East division rival this season. We were in the presence of two NCAA powers, since Boston College is ranked No. 2 in the country, and Maine comes fifth.
The rivals will meet again on Sunday afternoon, also at the Conte Forum in Boston.
Furthermore, another CH prospect, center Michael Hage, was back in action Friday for the University of Michigan Wolverines after a game absence.
Hage had a great chance to play the hero in overtime, but he was ultimately scratched from the scoresheet by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (No. 20).
It was ultimately the Wolverines, ranked seventh, who had the last word, 2 to 1 in overtime.
