the derby of fear between Lège and the Girondins B

LThe reserve is in great difficulty. Red lantern of the group with only a small point, she has already been beaten five times in seven days. But she also kept Canet-en-Roussillon (2-2), current second in the group, and Alberès-Argelès (1-1) in check on her lawn. She is therefore entirely capable of picking up points on Saturday evening in Lège. A scenario which would be terrible for the players from the Presqu’île, who are also down on points in the rankings.

It will therefore truly be a match of fear between two direct competitors for maintenance. If the Gironde reserve did rather well against the players from the North Bassin with four victories during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons, the trend was reversed last season with a draw obtained at home in the first leg (2-2 ) and a defeat in on the return leg (3-1).

“Regain efficiency”

“The truth of one season is not necessarily that of the next,” says coach Philippe Ollier. With all the upheavals that the Girondins are undergoing, it is difficult to see clearly. That’s why I prefer to stay focused on us. We have every interest in continuing the investment we show in training and in matches. Accounting, we have not yet been rewarded for all our efforts because we suffer from a cruel lack of efficiency. »

The work in training is therefore done in particular to try to make dangerous actions in front of goal more concrete. Ollier continued: “I don’t think bottom-of-the-table teams like us create as many chances to score in every game regardless of the opponent. We erase the little details that fail us week after week. The group is healthy, 100% invested in the club. This is felt both in training and in the results of our reserve which is at the top of its group and undefeated. Finding efficiency again, starting with the meeting against the Girondin reservists, would put us on the right track. »

The match
