NFL: will Deshaun Watson be back with the Browns in 2025?

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry has not ruled out the possibility that quarterback Deshaun Watson could play again for his team, despite the fact that he suffered another significant injury, for the team to have a third season disappointing in a row and that its base of supporters is divided.

Watson suffered a torn Achilles tendon on Oct. 20 against the Cincinnati Bengals, an injury that sparked rumors about his future with the Browns, who risked everything to acquire him in 2022.

“It’s still possible,” Berry said Wednesday, while responding to a question about whether Watson would ever suit up for the Browns again.

Watson has never lived up to expectations since the Browns (2-7) acquired him. The Ohio team will begin its bye week with many questions and a gigantic problem at the quarterback position.

The team’s decision to trade three first-round draft picks to the Houston Texans and give Watson a five-year, US$230 million, fully guaranteed contract proved disastrous.

Watson is 9-10 in just 19 starts after being suspended for 11 games by the NFL for violating its behavioral policy. Additionally, the 29-year-old quarterback’s last two seasons ended abruptly: a broken shoulder last season, and a torn Achilles tendon in 2024.

Watson must pocket $46 million for each of the next two campaigns, and the Browns must absorb a portion of $72 million from their payroll, limiting their ability to plug the holes in their formation.

This pact has been denounced everywhere, and some have even called it the worst in NFL history.
