The lawn, greener elsewhere? OM kids could soon train outside of Marseille. This is what the newspaper announced The Team Tuesday November 6. The club is in fact about to launch the construction of its new training center, outside the Commanderie, where the players are starting to feel a little cramped.
Several hypotheses are on the table, such as the Martine stadium or the Pont-de-Vivaux racecourse, in Marseille. Other options are being studied outside the Marseille city: Cabriès-Calas, Allauch, and why not Trets? OM has not yet communicated on this subject, but according to The Teamthis would be the strongest case yet.
A new spotlight for the commune of Bouches-du-Rhône? The La Gardi stadium, less than an hour from Marseille, was chosen to host the club’s reserve matches, coached by Jean-Pierre Papin. And already this summer, the sports complex had been selected for the training of the Bleuets, Thierry Henry’s French youth team, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This move takes place as part of the three-year project of Pablo Longoria and Frank McCourt. The Commanderie would then be dedicated solely to professionals. Concerning the OM Campus, the Cesne center, in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille, would not be satisfactory either. Changes and announcements to come, therefore.
