give the Black Stars time to perform, the wish of a former international

While they are experiencing difficult times with negative results in the AFCON qualifiers, former Ghana international, Rashid Sumaila, believes that the Black Stars will improve with time.

The Ghanaian selection could not qualify for the CAN 2025, after being beaten by Sudan during a double confrontation on the third and fourth days of the CAN 2025 qualifiers.

Speaking on media outlet Bryt FM, the former Asante Kotoko star calls on fans to be patient so the team can excel.

“We must learn from our mistakes. We have fallen into Sudan, but it is not over. I will ask the leaders to put things in order for the good of the national team. Now is not the time to blame. We just have to do the right thing and I think the national team will come through.”he indicated.

“Our players are doing well at their clubs in Europe, but that is not the case for our national team. We need to strategize and give the Black Stars time to perform. For the coach, it is a question of retaining part of the squad and ensuring the coherence of the team. We need to form the core of the Black Stars and I am sure it will bear fruit. 50% of the current workforce must be maintained. The Black Stars must be consistent, like in previous years. Avram Grant was successful with the Black Stars because he had a band that had been playing together for years.”he observed.

The Black Stars resume the qualifiers this November with the last two days where they will face Angola and Niger in Group F. Ghana will travel to face Angola in Luanda on November 15 before hosting Niger at the ‘Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024.

Ghana must now win against Angola and Niger, already qualified, while hoping that Sudan loses against these same opponents, in order to maintain their chances of participating in CAN 2025.
