Vinicius Jr has visibly become the target of Spanish supporters. The Real Madrid star was heavily mocked this weekend by fans of FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid after his defeat in the Ballon d’Or, won by Rodri.
“Beach ball, Vinicius, beach ball…” chanted the most fervent supporters during this Sunday’s matches: first at the Metropolitano, where Diego Simeone’s team won against Las Palmas (2-0), then at the Montjuïc stadium, during the Catalan derby between Barça and Espanyol.
Real Madrid, for their part, saw their trip to Valencia postponed due to deadly floods in the region. But according to the Spanish press, the opposing supporters had also planned to sing this refrain.
A new campaign against the Madrid number 7 seems to be beginning, because everything suggests that this refrain will be neither the first nor the last time that Vinicius will hear it. The hostile climate persists for the winger.
As a reminder, last Monday, the Brazilian and the Madrid delegation had snubbed the Ballon d’Or ceremony, after being informed of Rodri’s coronation to the detriment of “Vini”.
