MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix 2024, race summary

Francesco Bagnaia pushes back the deadline for Jorge Martin’s title. The two protagonists of this season engaged in an extraordinary battle during the first three laps before Martin left the field open to Bagnaia to manage his race and the championship.

In third place, we find Bastianini who takes several points from Marc Marquez, victim of a fall.

Fabio Quartararo had a good race despite worn tires, finishing in sixth place behind Alex Marquez and Pedro Acosta.

Bagnaia increases his lead over Martin with a 1.6 second gap but the Pramac driver also increases the gap to Bastianini with 5.5 seconds due to an error in turn 15. The Italian has more than one second ahead of Alex Marquez and Acosta.

Pedro Acosta is putting pressure on Alex Marquez in order to get 4th place. Quartararo is behind but starting to lose ground.

For third place overall, Enea Bastianini performed well. With a podium and Marquez out of points, he would regain 16 pts in the drivers’ standings.

Marc Marquez crashed in turn 15. The Catalan lost the front and found himself in the gravel but restarted in 17th position behind Morbidelli.

Franco Morbidelli also crashes in turn 9, the same as Mir and Bagnaia yesterday. He leaves quickly.

Bastianini has just overtaken Franco Morbidelli for 4th place. Just behind, we find Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta and Fabio Quartararo.

Pecco Bagnaia has just achieved the best lap once again. 1:59.118 this time and almost a second ahead of Jorge Martin.

Marc Marquez still follows Martin and Bagnaia in third position. He remains in ambush to possibly take advantage of a collision between the two pilots.

Pecco regains the lead of the race at turn 15 thanks to excellent braking. Both made an exceptional start to the Grand Prix.

Jorge Martin regains the lead at turn 14 by taking the inside thanks to a different trajectory.

Here we go a second time! Pecco Bagnaia makes an excellent start but Martin is stuck to his heels. Marc Marquez moves up from 5th place to 4th place ahead of Morbidelli.
