Viktorija Golubic (WTA 168) will play her fifth final in a WTA tournament in Jiujiang, China. The 32-year-old from Zurich took out the number 1 seed in the table Marie Bouzkova (WTA 49) 6-1 6-2 in the semi-finals.
The 2021 Olympic doubles vice-champion was left with two dry defeats suffered over the last twelve months against the Czech. In the final she will face the Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova (WTA 53), seeded no. 2, against whom she has never lost a set in three duels.
Viktorija Golubic, who has not reached the final four on the main circuit since June 2022, is aiming for a second WTA trophy after her unexpected coronation in Gstaad in 2016. She lost the other three finals she played at this level : in Linz in 2016, then in Lyon and Monterrey in quick succession in March 2021.
Also titled three times in a WTA 125 tournament (equivalent to an ATP Challenger), the Zurich native managed a recital on the restart. She thus signed the break on the eight return games that she negotiated. The last one allowed him to conclude this game after 1h18′ of play.
