Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was back on the ice Thursday, a day after it was announced he would be out for two to three weeks to treat an ankle injury.
TSN insider Chris Johnston reports there is optimism that McDavid will be back sooner than expected.
“Thursday morning, Connor McDavid put on the skates to test his ankle injury,” explained the journalist on the show Insider TradingTHURSDAY. “I had the opportunity to speak to his agent, Judd Moldaver of the Wasserman firm. He told me things were pretty encouraging. »
“He is a player who has returned earlier than expected in the past after suffering injuries and I won’t make any predictions at this stage, but all signs point to him being back up and running before long. »
McDavid’s injury occurred in the first period of a 6-1 loss to Columbus on Monday, as McDavid struggled for the puck in the offensive zone. Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski appeared to trip McDavid, who fell against the boards. No penalties were imposed on the sequence.
