Guilty of a mistake, Brad Marchand is scolded by his coach

Being the captain of the Boston Bruins didn’t stop Brad Marchand from suffering the wrath of head coach Jim Montgomery, who didn’t like what he saw in the third period on Saturday night.

The Bruins were leading 1-0 against Utah when Marchand lost the puck in the offensive zone, opening the door for his rivals. The Salt Lake City team moved up the ice and beat Jeremy Swayman.

Returning to the bench, the 36-year-old veteran knew he had made a blunder and Montgomery did not hesitate to remind him of it. He moved behind the players to express his thoughts to Marchand and then shoved him. Watch in main video.

Ultimately, Utah’s goal was disallowed due to offside, which certainly didn’t excuse the left winger in Montgomery’s eyes.

Buoyed by the energy of the crowd, the local players finally defeated the Bruins 2 to 1 in overtime. Marchand had an assist on Boston’s only goal.
