Bordeaux-Bègles will travel this Sunday evening to La Rochelle to close the 7^e day of Top 14. A match for which the UBB staff revealed a team composition with training from extremely rare sideline probably never seen in Top 14.

It was a little over a year ago, in August during a World Cup warm-up match between South Africa and the All Blacks at Twickenham. The Springboks staff shocked the whole oval by choosing an unprecedented bench formation with 7 forwards and only a three-quarter, an option which had also paid off and which had been reused during the World Cup.

This famous 7-1 has since remained extremely rare, and a priori had never before been used in the Top 14. It will be done after this La Rochelle – Bordeaux-Bègles and the team composition concocted by Yannick Bru.

On retrouve ainsi sur le banc de touche Maxime Lamothe, Jefferson Poirot, Cyril Cazeaux, Tevita Tatafu, Temo Matiu, Pete Samu, Romain Buros et Sipili Falatea.

Some teams have already paid dearly for using a 6-2 bench due to early injuries, so needless to say the 7-1 is not without danger. In the event of multiple problems behind, the UBB will count on the very mobile Temo Matiu and Pete Samu.

On the other hand, the Girondins will undoubtedly hope that their hinge can play the entire match, although Arthur Retière can play as scrum half if necessary.
