Formula 1 | Hamilton: My reaction times are always the fastest

When Lewis Hamilton begins the next chapter of his Formula 1 career with Ferrari in 2025, the seven-time world champion will reach a milestone few drivers achieve: lining up on the grid at age 40.

But rather than seeing age as a limitation, Hamilton believes he is in the best shape of his life, both physically and mentally.

Reflecting on his journey from newbie at 22 to seasoned veteran of the sport, Hamilton believes time has only sharpened his skills.

“Honestly, right now I feel healthier than ever. I’m in such good shape, both physically and mentally.”

“My reaction times are still the fastest, more so than young people. I think I’m a better driver than I was at 22.”

Looking back on the early days, Hamilton recognizes how much he has evolved.

“I was just young and energetic and ruthless, but without finesse, without poise. I didn’t know how to be a team player, how to be a leader.”

“Being a good racing driver is not just about being fast, it’s about being the most complete.”
