A marathon of 14 games to end the year

The club will have to face an insane schedule to finish the year 2024 in the best possible way.

The new format of the Champions League, with 8 matches instead of 6 in the first phase of the competition, the creation of a Club Super World in the summer of 2025 and the maintenance of the Intercontinental Club Cup (formerly called Club World Cup) in particular, will push Real Madrid to potentially play more than 70 matches in a “marathon” season where injuries have already greatly affected the Madrid group.

After the end of the international break, Real Madrid will begin, on October 19 at 9 p.m. at Celta Vigo in La Liga, a hellish series of matches until the new year which is fast approaching. Indeed, the Merengue club will play no less than 14 official matches at the end of 2024. On the program, 9 matches in La Liga, 4 in the Champions League and an Intercontinental Cup final. Just that.

Real Madrid’s end-of-year calendar

The Madrilenians will also resume training this Tuesday to prepare this program which is, to say the least, complete. The week which arrives after the break promises to be particularly difficult with a trip to Celta Vigo on October 19, the reception of Borussia Dortmund on October 22 and the reception of FC Barcelona on October 26. Subsequently, Real Madrid will continue with a perilous trip to Valencia on November 2 followed by the reception of AC Milan on November 5 and the reception of Osasuna on November 9.

After that, the Merengues will take a breather before resuming La Liga on November 24 with a trip to Leganés and returning to the Champions League with a shock against Liverpool at Anfield on November 27. Then, Real Madrid will play 2 matches in La Liga against Getafe at home on December 1st and against Girona away on December 8th. To end the month of December and the year 2024 in style, the Merengue club will play 4 matches: against Atalanta Bergamo away on December 10, against Rayo Vallecano away on December 15, the final of the Intercontinental Cup on December 18 (the opponent is not yet known at the moment) and against Sevilla at home on December 22.

A decisive end to the year when we know that Real Madrid is involved in all competitions with a single objective: to win all possible titles of which there are 7 this season. The Madrilenians won the European Super Cup against Atalanta Bergamo and they potentially still have 6 titles to go for: La Liga, Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey, Champions League, Intercontinental Cup, Club World Super Cup, etc. .

For the moment, Real Madrid are second in La Liga with 21 points, just 3 points behind Barça who are leaders with 24 points. In the Champions League, Real Madrid has an average record, below the club’s expectations, with a victory (3-1 against Stuttgart) and a defeat (1-0 against ) and is positioned in 17th place in the Champions League. 36 teams participating in this competition.
