FC Dinard (R2) beat Lamballe (R1) on Sunday in the 5th round of the Coupe de . An ultimately logical victory.

Coupe de France (5th round). FC Dinard (R2) – Lamballe FC (R1): 3-2

A single division between the two teams, a large audience: this match, Sunday, in Dinard, reeked of the scent of the Coupe de France. On paper, the Dinardais, residents of Regional 2, were not favorites against Lamballe (R1). But their first offensives showed their determination, like Tréhel strangely alone against the Lamballe goalkeeper, who did not press his shot hard enough (10′).

A penalty in stoppage time

FC Dinard, led in midfield by the experienced Steven Créac’h and Arthur Delalande, controlled operations. Forced to try their luck on the counter, Pierre-Yves David’s players were also going to prove dangerous with a cross shot from Blanchet (15′) and a long shot from Laurent (17′), which went over. But on a harmless free kick, Bekhit, at the forefront, deflected the ball with his head and opened the scoring in the 24th minute for Lamballe (0-1).

Dinard did not give up and Créac’h’s recovery, at the far post, narrowly missed (26′). It was only a postponed game, since, following good work from Mallet, Créac’h in ambush brought the two teams level (1-1, 30′). On their momentum, the Dinardais even took the advantage through Dufouil who concluded a great collective action (2-1, 36′). Just before the break, the Lamballais came back to score, from a corner, thanks to a header from Bekhit (2-2, 44′).

“Dinard’s victory is deserved”

In the second half, the two teams neutralized each other, but the chances were clearer on the Dinard side, like Fixot’s header which forced Jouan, the visiting goalkeeper, to relax (57′). Mallet, who started behind the defense, also lost two duels against the Costa Rican goalkeeper (68′, 72′). It was, ultimately, an escape from Legrand, who did not miss the target, which sent Dinard to the 6th round! The match almost experienced a new twist in stoppage time, since the Lamballais benefited from a penalty taken by Blanchet, but well saved by Menot, the Dinard goalkeeper (90’+4).

“We weren’t up to par because we didn’t have the necessary ingredients offensively,” lamented Lamballe coach Pierre-Yves David. We only existed on set pieces. The victory for Dinard, which has a very good squad, is deserved” Dinard coach Kévin Belloc appreciated: “Tactically, we had a big match. The players wanted a 6th round. Mission accomplished.”

BUTS. Dinard Creac’h (30′), Dufouil (36′), Legrand (85′); Lamballe: Bekhit (24′, 44′)
