A former Belgian kickboxing champion was found dead in the street in Moorsele, in West Flanders, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, announce our colleagues from Laatste Nieuws. Mathieu Kongolo (38 years old) was found by a passerby covered in blood. He had a serious head injury.

The prosecution has appointed an investigating judge to shed light on the exact circumstances of this death. An autopsy will be carried out.

“His upper body was naked,” the young man who found the victim told our colleagues. “He had cuts everywhere, even deep ones. On the top of his head, he had a gaping wound. He was bleeding a lot, but he was alive.”

The neighbor called the emergency services and tried to resuscitate him, while waiting for help. “He tried to tell me something, but I didn’t understand it,” he explains. The emergency services finally took over, to no avail. Mathieu Kongolo died on the spot.
