the truths of Aymeric Laporte on his not very “gentle” exchanges with Didier Deschamps

Guest of Rothen ignites on RMC this Tuesday, Aymeric Laporte spoke about his fresh relationship with Didier Deschamps, whom he met during two gatherings of the team.

Between Aymeric Laporte and Didier Deschamps, the flow did not flow. In an interview given to Rothen s’enflamme on RMC, Tuesday October 8, the defender of the Spain team returns to the reasons for his change of sporting nationality in spring 2021. Before this date, he had been able to honor two call-ups to the France team, but had not had the opportunity to play.

“Personal relationships that didn’t work”

“If I went to the French team and I didn’t go there afterwards, it was more because of personal relationships that didn’t work,” first declared the Al-Nassr defender, originally from .

“I couldn’t wait any longer than that,” he adds. “The years passed and, in the end, it was always the same coach. If I wanted to play international competitions, I had to make decisions. And I had to make this choice. Today, I am very happy and I feel very good in this Spanish team. It suits me, also in terms of personality.”

Relaunched on his relationship with Didier Deschamps, Aymeric Laporte admits that there “were exchanges on several occasions which were not necessarily the sweetest”. But for him, now European champion, it is no longer a subject: “It’s over, I don’t even think about it anymore. Everyone goes their own way.”

Aymeric Laporte has 37 caps and 1 goal with La Roja since June 2021. With the France team, he appeared on three match sheets without ever playing: against Bulgaria and the Netherlands in 2016, then against Spain in 2017.
