Top 14 – Benjamin Urdapilleta smiles at the return of Antoine Dupont before -Clermont: “He couldn’t have waited a week?”

This Monday, Antoine Dupont made his comeback to training with . The Olympic champion has a good chance of making his return to the Top 14 this weekend at Toulouse-Clermont. A hypothesis which does not really please Auvergne fly-half Benjamin Urdapilleta, even if he prefers to smile about it.

It was a moment awaited by most oval ball enthusiasts… Perhaps a little less so by the people of Clermont. This Monday, Antoine Dupont reunited with his Toulouse teammates after several weeks of vacation which followed his Olympic title.

The scrum-half is expected by all the red and black people on the Ernest-Wallon lawn this Saturday evening. For the sixth day of the championship, the Stadistes welcome Clermont. The Auvergnats could therefore be the first to challenge “Toto” Dupont this season.

At the microphone of Sud Radio, Benjamin UrdapilletaASM opener, reacted to the news with a worried smile: “I saw that he had resumed this week and that he was available to play against us. Couldn’t he have waited a week? It’s not possible, we’re out of luck…”

The two men know each other well

Benjamin Urdapilleta knows what he is talking about. On the side, the Argentinian played two seasons with Antoine Dupont as a teammate. He will therefore have seen the one who was “only” a kid at the time explode into the Top 14, before subsequently joining Toulouse in 2017.

At the time of writing, it is impossible to say whether “Toto” and “Urda” will cross paths on the green rectangle on Saturday. Asked about a possible turnover in the Clermont ranks after the victory against , the fly-half declared “that he did not yet know what Christophe Urios would decide” for this match.
