(2/5) Mathis Carlier, BMX coach: “The young people saw the Olympics this summer and want to register”

At 21 years old, Mathis Carlier takes as much pleasure in riding his BMX as he does in introducing the little ones to moguls. Hugo Marsault met this driver on his favorite playground: the Osny race track in Val d’Oise. “My first memory of BMX was in 2008. I watched the (Beijing) Olympic Games on TV and it immediately made me want it. I came to the Osny club. And all the little ones that I supervise today, it’s exactly the same thing. They saw the Olympics this summer, and like me, 16 years ago, they wanted to sign up for BMX.

“It was the club coach who asked me to come with him.”

“I have been coaching since I was 13/14 years old. It was the club coach who asked me to come with him and I quickly got a taste for it. My greatest pleasure is to see them evolve

“Even if I am a physiotherapist, I will continue to train”

“It gave me a little perspective because I’m studying physiotherapy at the same time. Taking care of young athletes, young children, it helps me to better understand my interventions and to improve them as best as possible. Even by being a physiotherapist, I will continue to train, I will continue to pass on I really like these two hats and I really hope to make them coincide as much as possible in my professional life later.
