We attended a very beautiful ceremony, led by the illustrious sports historian, Jean-Paul Ollivier. In the presence of his wife Arlette, his children and grandchildren, the bronze statue made by the Franco-Peruvian artist Juan Carlos Carillo (who also spoke), representing Just Fontaine (died February 28, 2023 at 89 years), was inaugurated on Sunday on the square in front of the Auguste-Delaune stadium, following a long epic speech by Ollivier, emphatically recounting his exceptional journey. And this as the “curtain raiser” of Reims – Montpellier (5 p.m., 7th day of Ligue 1), a few meters from the sculpture honoring another great glory of the club, Raymond Kopa (died on March 3, 2017 at the age of 85), itself erected in December 2018.
