Jeff Gorton once wondered if he ran a day camp

It’s been a few years since Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes took the helm of the Canadian. Since then, the club hasn’t had a ton of success on the ice…but it’s building for the future.

There is still (big) work to do, but the club already has a certain basis.

By getting his hands on Hughes, Gorton knew he was getting his hands on a former agent. Obviously, therefore, we knew he was capable of establishing good relationships with his players, but we had to see how that would translate into his new role.

And while chatting with Marc de Foy (TVA Sports), Hughes said he wants to stay very close to his players. So it created a certain atmosphere to which Gorton was not necessarily accustomed.

And that led to him already asking Hughes if the two men ran a day camp.

Obviously, it is above all a way of speaking to say that there is an atmosphere of closeness and camaraderie between the managers and the players, which is not always the case across the league. In the interview, Hughes explains in particular that he is not afraid to give the truth to his players, particularly in connection with transaction rumors surrounding them.

Gorton, for his part, did not learn as an agent, he who climbed the ranks by learning from leaders in a time when this proximity was not possible. This therefore created a certain “clash” of mentalities.

But obviously, that doesn’t stop the two men from working together. We know that they work together to make decisions in the hockey department, and we will see if these decisions will end up paying off in a few years.

And above all, we will see if this “day camp” atmosphere will last over time when there are expectations towards the club. Sometimes it’s a factor that can change things.

– He is still popular.

– The tossed and turned of the day. Note that John Ludvig, who belonged to the Penguins and who was placed on waivers yesterday, was claimed by the Avalanche.

– Ah good?

– Big victory for the Guardians to start their series against the Tigers.

– He is reportedly unhappy with his role in the Packers aerial attack.
