NFL: Odell Beckham Jr. as reinforcement with the Dolphins

Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to play his first game in a Miami Dolphins uniform on Sunday, as the team takes on the New England Patriots.

Beckham Jr.’s name was removed from the physically unfit list, making him eligible to play against the Patriots.

He spent the first four weeks of the season on the disabled list after undergoing off-season knee surgery. He signed a contract with the Dolphins in May, but only practiced this week for the first time.

Miami released quarterback Tim Boyle on Friday, allowing them to make room for OBJ on the 53-man roster.

The addition of Beckham Jr. will perhaps help an offense that has struggled this season, especially since the loss of Tua Tagovailoa. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have over 200 yards each, but no other receiver has reached the 30-yard mark.

Beckham Jr. isn’t worried about the pressure that comes with returning to the game.

“Pressure is why I play this sport. It was never about the attention. I don’t feel like there’s any extra pressure on me – I feel like the pressure is the same for everyone. We need to start making plays. The defense is playing well, now it’s the offense’s turn. »

Last season in 14 games with the Baltimore Ravens, OBJ caught 35 balls for 565 yards in addition to scoring three touchdowns.

The 31-year-old athlete also played for the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams during his career.

Coach Mike McDaniel said Beckham is expected to have a limited role Sunday, but his workload will be expected to increase.

The Dolphins will have a break after Sunday’s game. Their next meeting will take place on October 20 in Indianapolis.

The Patriots (1-3) started the season by beating the Bengals, but have since been beaten by the Seahawks, Jets and 49ers.
