speed, track, record… Everything you need to know about the Japanese Grand Prix circuit

Who will be crowned 2024 Moto GP world champion? A few weeks before the end of the season, the drivers return to the Twin Ring Motegi circuit, in Motegi (Japan). Used for the first time in 1999, the Japanese track gave way to the Suzuka circuit for four seasons, before once again hosting the Japanese GP in 2004. Since then, the drivers have never left the Motegi circuit.

Jorge Martín appears to be the ultra favorite for this 2024 Japanese Grand Prix. Winner last week in Indonesia, Martín dominated the 2023 edition in Motegi (Japan). Pole position, sprint race then main race, the Spaniard had left no crumb to his competitors. The Ducati-Pramac rider will have to be wary of his rival this season, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati). The reigning world champion, just 21 points behind the Spaniard in the general classification, has not said his last word, while there are only 5 Grands Prix remaining this season.

With its 14 turns (6 left and 8 right), the Twin Ring Motegi circuit is a difficult circuit to understand. Type stop and gothe Japanese track favors big bursts of speed, provided that heavy braking is done, particularly when approaching turn number 11. Drivers capable of delaying their braking as much as possible as well as making the best restarts will certainly be at the party this weekend.
