The verdict that everyone had been waiting for since Saturday evening came at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The images of his collision with Cédric Paré, which has been running on repeat since the weekend, suggested a much longer absence.

This would have been the case if the medial collateral ligament or the anterior cruciate ligament had been torn. At that point, the Montreal organization and its fans should have given up on their chances of seeing Laine in the blue-white-red uniform this season.

However, unless there is a setback in his rehabilitation or a change in diagnosis [une chose à laquelle le Canadien nous a habitués au fil des ans]Laine will be back at the very beginning of 2025 at the latest.

Due to the numerous matches he missed last season and his long period of summer inactivity, the 25-year-old striker will undoubtedly need a few more weeks to find his touch.

From the way Laine’s left knee bent, we can speak of a small miracle, of good luck in his misfortune. But before we rejoice too quickly, let’s wait and see what the next ones have in store for him.
