The fifth overall pick in the 2023 draft was injured in his very first appearance in last Saturday’s preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. His knee was twisted when he collided with the ramp following a check from Marshall Rifai.

This is obviously a hard blow for Reinbacher who hoped to make a name for himself this season in the Canadian organization, after a last campaign spent largely in Kloten, Switzerland. He left a nice calling card during his 11 games with the Rocket at the end of last season.

Reinbacher scored two goals and three assists during this short stay on Île Jésus.

Furthermore, the Canadian has not yet offered an update regarding the state of health of forward Patrik Laine, who was injured during the same game against the Maple Leafs. According to NHL informant Frank Seravalli, the Canadian is still waiting to know whether Laine will be able to avoid surgery or not.

Laine was the victim of knee-to-knee contact with Cédric Paré. He was seen Monday at the Canadiens’ training wearing a left knee brace and walking with crutches.

More details to come.
