It is only in a few days that the NHL will kick off its 2024-25 season with the first game being played as early as Friday, October 4 when the New Jersey Devils will face the New Jersey Sabers. Buffalo as part of the Global Series presented in Prague.
A few days later, on October 9, the Montreal Canadiens will begin their season when they receive a visit from the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre.
For the occasion, each player from both teams will have an element added to their helmet. This is a sticky tribute to the memory of Mattew Gaudreau et Johnny Gaudreauboth of whom recently died in a terrible bicycle accident.
These are tights where you can see the letter G for “Gaudreau” in big letters, in the middle of 13 and 21, the sweater numbers worn by the two brothers.
It will be remembered that this tragedy completely shook the entire league. This is why the journalist Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports that all players on all teams in the league will wear this same sticker on their helmets for the first month of the season.
This is a very nice gesture to honor their memory.
