He was at the Bell Centre: PK Subban disgusted by Cédric Paré’s hit

Former Montreal Canadiens defenseman PK Subban had a front-row seat Saturday night to see Cédric Paré’s knee-to-knee hit against Patrik Laine. And he was disgusted by what he witnessed.

Subban, whom TSN cameras showed in the stands at the Bell Center during the broadcast of the game, used his platform on X to comment on this unfortunate incident.

He was not very kind to Paré, whose blow he described as “disgusting”.

“But what was that last night?,” he lamented in a minute and a half video. You’re outnumbered, you step forward to give a check and you take out your knee against a superstar? Irresponsible. I don’t like it. It wasn’t a battle in the corner of the rink. It was at center ice, shorthanded, during a preparatory game.”

In Subban’s eyes, a player like Paré who belongs to the American Hockey League must show more respect to an NHL “superstar”.

“Where is the respect for superstars? I don’t see it, the flamboyant ex-defender said indignantly. I don’t think they should be coddled, don’t get me wrong. We saw Pastrnak and Tkachuk fight during the playoffs. These guys are tough. But we can’t see cheap shots against superstars, I’m sorry.

“I didn’t go to see the match last night to see Cédric Paré. I pay for my ticket to see Patrik Laine, not him.”

When Arber Xhekaj went to meet him to avenge Laine, Paré did not want to fight, content to accept the blows of the “Sheriff”.

However, Paré should have accepted the invitation on principle, launched Subban. “Cedric, you need to throw down the gloves. Poor Xhekaj, he doesn’t know what to do. What do you want him to do? [pour faire sa justice]?»

Expelled from the game, Xhekaj also received a fine of $3,385.42 from the NHL on Sunday. Paré was not punished for his actions against Laine.
