Sportsnet’s 50 best NHL players: only one CH player present

For several seasons, the Montreal Canadiens have been anything but a power in the National Hockey League (NHL), which does not mean that certain players from the club have not managed to do well in the game.

This is particularly the case for forward Nick Suzuki who has just had his best career season, with 33 goals and 44 assists, for 77 points in 82 games.

This excellent campaign has not gone under the radar. Suzuki received several votes for the Selke Trophy, awarded to the best defensive forward in the NHL.

Another sign that his performances do not go unnoticed, Suzuki is now one of the 50 best players on the Bettman circuit according to the Sportsnet network, where a ranking has been established on this subject. The captain of the CH appears at 47e rank on this list, ahead of Jake Guentzel of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and behind defenseman Jaccob Slavin of the Carolina Hurricanes.

However, number 14 is the only representative of the Belle Province team in this list.

Among the teams most represented in the rankings, the Tampa Bay Lightning have five players (Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Victor Hedman and Guenztel), while the Edmonton Oilers (Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard), the Florida Panthers (Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart and Sergei Bobrovsky) and the Boston Bruins (David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, Brad Marchand and Jeremy Swayman) each have four players on the list.

It was obviously McDavid who was placed in first position, followed by Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche. This top 5 is completed by Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs) and Draisaitl.
