Barça sanctioned by UEFA for a banner recalling Nazi Germany in Monaco

Pinned for the “racist and/or discriminatory” behavior of its supporters against Monaco in the Champions League, Barça was notably fined 10,000 euros.

A slap on the wrist. FC Barcelona was sanctioned this Friday by UEFA for a controversial banner displayed by its supporters during the defeat in Monaco (2-1), on September 19, in the Champions League. On this banner brandished in a Louis-II tribune, the message “Flick Heil” was displayed with typography reminiscent of “Sieg Heil”, a Nazi slogan literally translating as “Hail to victory”.

The Catalans’ next two C1 matches are scheduled at home against the Swiss Young Boys (October 1) and Bayern Munich (October 23).
