Euphoria visibly went to the head of a Lausanne-Sport fan during the victory against Basel (3-2), on July 21. At the end of the match, when the players had already greeted the public, the supporter found nothing better to do than to “throw a firecracker into the still-full stand, causing injuries to three spectators”, announced the cantonal police this Thursday.

A man suffered burns to his back and two female fans suffered earaches following the explosion. The latter filed a criminal complaint. The perpetrator of the throwing – a 29-year-old Swiss man already known to the police for similar acts committed during the Switzerland-Germany match in Frankfurt during Euro 2024 – has been identified.

The troublemaker is not likely to see La Tuilière again any time soon. The Swiss Football Association has handed him a 5-year stadium ban, coupled with a 3-year perimeter ban from the cantonal police.
