A few hours before Stade Brestois’ official debut in the Champions League, Eric Roy took a dig at Olympique de Marseille.
This Thursday, Stade Brestois will discover the Champions League, for the first match in its history in the European Cup. The Breton club faces Sturm Graz, not at Francis Le Blé, but at the Roudourou stadium (Guingamp). On the eve of this historic match for SB29, its coach, Eric Roy, spoke of Brest’s ambitions in C1. He did not fail to address a small tackle to Olympique de Marseille.
“Out of the eight matches, there are some where we have a duty to exist! Afterwards, maybe we’ll get 0 points, but we’ll have to wait until the end of the season to see what happens.” he throws in the columns of West France in reference to Marseille’s terrible year in the Champions League in 2013-2014.
Whatever the draw for Brest, it would probably have been very tricky on paper as the Breton club was not expected at this stage of the competition. For their first match, Eric Roy’s men will probably face their most affordable opponent of the eight European matches that await them.
