Phryge says goodbye to athletes leaving the capital by train

PARALYMPIC GAMES – Curtain call for the Olympic star. The day after the closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games, athletes leaving the capital’s train stations on Monday, September 9, were able to say a final goodbye to their favorite mascot.

At the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games, the phryges put on another show

As you can see in the video at the top of the articlethe Phryge, one of the marketing successes of these 2024 Olympic Games, created a stir on the platforms of Gare du Nord, before the departure of the British athletes to London. According to other videos shared on social networks, the red cap on two legs was also seen at Gare de Lyon to greet the Swiss athletes.

True to form, the mascot performed a few dance steps with musicians, to the delight of the travelers.

Gold Medal for Derivatives

Mocked by some when it was launched, the mascot Phryge has established itself as the undisputed star of Paris 2024 derivative products, with nearly 3 million soft toys manufactured, placed on the market and largely sold.

The omnipresent red plush toy in the shape of a Phrygian cap with big eyes – with or without a prosthesis – is offered to each Paralympic medalist. It also makes a splash during the events, is a hit on social networks and in the aisles of authorized retailers, and even completely covered the taxi driven by para-swimmer Théo Curin during the opening ceremony of the Paralympics.

“We don’t yet have the sales figures for consumers, but as a manufacturer, we have sold around 1,430,000 mascots to our distributors.”summarizes to AFP Alain Joly, president of Doudou et Compagnie, one of the two companies holding the official license.
