Investigation – Revealed by Mediapart, messages discovered by the police confirm that Gérald Darmanin worked to obtain tax advantages for PSG

“Everything was done within the framework of the tax laws of the Republic.” On March 29, 2018, Gérald Darmanin was invited on BFM TV. Then Minister of Action and Public Accounts, he was questioned about the revelations in the book “PSG, the underside of a revolution”. According to the Paris United collective, he intervened to facilitate Neymar’s transfer to PSG.

“There was no kind of tax break, as if one could imagine that there would have been an adaptation with the laws of the Republic. There are tax and social laws, and Mr. Neymar pays what he has to pay,” he replied to Ruth Elkrief, looking amused by the question. “It is better that Mr. Neymar pays his taxes in France rather than go and play elsewhere in another country.”

Despite the denials of the resigning Minister of the Interior, the justice system is still closely interested in the transfer of the Brazilian star, and a judicial investigation for influence peddling was opened in February. As revealed by several media outlets – Mediapart, The World or The team –, the role played by the resigning Minister of the Interior seems to have been decisive in this matter to prevent the Parisian club from paying tens of millions of euros in taxes.
