Koundé’s response to criticism of her looks

His looks never go unnoticed. And whether it’s before Barça matches or when he arrives at Clairefontaine for the French team’s gatherings, many people scrutinize Jules Koundé’s stylistic innovations. Indifferent to what people will say, the former Bordeaux player (25 years old) fully assumes this appetite for fashion, which he likes to share with his fans on social networks.

“What others say is not important”

Earlier this week, he returned to Les Bleus wearing a long black skirt designed by British designer Simone Rocha and a colorful tank top with semi-ripped details. Last May, he had already caused a sensation by daring to wear heeled ankle boots at Clairefontaine, breaking a few stereotypes in the process.

“I do it first and foremost because I like it, I feel comfortable in the way I dress. If it can also open the minds of certain people… To take the example of ankle boots, men have always worn ankle boots. It’s just a lack of knowledge to say that it’s reserved for women,” he recalled this Sunday during an interview for Telefoot.

“Once again, everyone is free to do what they want, as they see fit. That’s my message. As long as you feel good about yourself, what others say is not important,” he stressed. On the sporting front, Koundé could find a starting spot this Monday against Belgium, after having to make do with around ten minutes on Friday during the slap in the face against Italy (3-1).
