“What a sporting moment”, Tony Estanguet moved by the Blues’ blind football gold

The president of Paris 2024 praised the fabulous final of the Blues of blind football, winner of Argentina in the final at the Stade Tour Eiffel.

“It was crazy, magical, incredible.” Tony Estanguet was not short of superlatives when describing the emotions aroused by the Paralympic victory of the French blind football team, victorious over the Argentinian world champions in front of a delirious crowd on Saturday at the Stade Tour Eiffel.

“What a moment of sport, what emotion and what suspense until the last second with this last shot on goal by Villeroux. Until the end there was a very strong emotion”, the president of Paris 2024 was moved at the microphone of Franceinfo this Sunday. Winners on penalties over their rivals, with a final successful attempt by captain Frédéric Villeroux, the Blues of blind football were overwhelmed by the emotion of their first Paralympic medal in the process.
