The medals keep coming for the French at the Paralympic Games. This Thursday, several more have reached the podium, including Jean-Louis Michaud in para sport shooting. After reaching the final of the mixed 50m prone rifle shooting (SH1), the champion lost precision on his last shots but still wins bronzeto the great joy of the public. He was beaten by the German Natascha Hiltrop, winner and author of the new Paralympic record (250.2 points) and the Swede Anna Benson. These were the first Games for the 42-year-old from Grenoble, a former sniper in the Alpine Hunters. Wounded in the war, it was at the end of a mission in Afghanistan in 2011 that Jean-Louis Michaud had to have a leg amputated after jumped on a mine. “I am a soldier and I remain a soldier. I have engraved it in my flesh”, says the athlete. Passionate about sport, Jean-Louis Michaud was part of the French amputee football team before joining the French para shooting team. The latter is a member of the Army of Champions and the reigning French champion in the 10-meter prone rifle.
