The Frenchman, who was in the lead for a while, finally came 2nd in the final of the 400m category T11 on Sunday evening at the Stade de France.

He had only gold in mind, as evidenced by his reaction after the final, collapsed on the ground, his face buried in his hands. French sprinter Timothée Adolphe won the silver medal on Sunday at the 2024 Paralympic Games in the 400m T11 category. Of the four finalists, he is the only one not to have beaten his personal best (50”75).

Venezuelan Enderson German Santos Gonzalez beat him to gold (50”58) at the end of the last 100 meters led at full speed. So much so that the French Paralympic Sports Federation wondered whether to lodge a protest, suspecting the South American guide of having “towed” his athlete. Guillaume Junior Atangana, from the Olympic refugee team, completed the podium (50”89).

Speaking to France Télévision, far from these considerations of complaint or not, Timothée Adolphe did not hide his disappointment: “We wanted gold and we had so much better legs. Unfortunately these three laps played tricks on us because I am the one with the highest top speed, but I am not the most resistant and tonight, unfortunately, it showed. We still managed to run faster than yesterday (Saturday) but it was not enough because the Venezuelan produced the performance of a lifetime. Congratulations to him.”
