Manchester City, despite a catastrophic start, dominated Chelsea (3-1) and consolidated its fourth place in the Premier League, Saturday four days before a decisive match for its future in the Champions League.
The four-time reigning English champions showed character after their 4-2 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain and before the reception of Bruges on Wednesday, at the conclusion of the first phase of the Champions League.
Pep Guardiola had chosen to directly launch Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov, his two main recruits of the winter.
The bet was generally successful for the Egyptian striker, moving throughout the match, deprived of a goal due to an offside (34th) and threatening on a shot that went very close to the goal (67th).
Abdukodir Khusanov (20 years old), on the other hand, was catastrophic at the start of the match, and not much more valiant before his replacement in the second half.
-The former Lens player mishandled an aerial ball then missed his header, which allowed Nicolas Jackson to serve Noni Madueke (3rd – 0-1). A few seconds later, he received a yellow card following a nasty tackle on Cole Palmer (4th).
Despite this nightmarish start, Manchester City continued to harass Chelsea’s defense, and Josko Gvardiol logically equalized (42nd, 1-1).
Erling Haaland exploited a long ball from his goalkeeper Ederson, put defender Trevoh Chalobah on the ground and lobbed Robert Sanchez, far too advanced (68th, 2-1). Phil Foden closed the scoring (87th, 3-1).
