Gathered in Marcoussis, the players of XV of carried out their first collective training sessions this week, giving a glimpse of what the composition of the Blues could look like against Wales at the opening of the 6 Nations. One of them, now well established as one of the bosses of this teamalso received compliments of Laurent Sempéré facing the press.

Thomas Ramos boss of the XV of France praised by his coach

It seems a long time ago when, during a World Cup in Japan, Thomas Ramos was sent back to France injured but not really. Then saw Anthony Bouthier move in front of him in the hierarchy of the XV of France, then replaced by Melvyn Jaminet. Today, it's hard to imagine these Blues starting a match without the back (or flyhalf) of Stade Toulousain.

Asked about his player, Laurant Sempéré was complimentary towards the Mazamétain.

“He is a reassuring player, capable of being dangerous offensively, of providing air with his excellent kicking game, and he is a good defender. Somewhere he has the full range! And it’s not from now, he had already participated in a major tournament last year,” listed the co-trainer of the conquest.

Thomas has an important place in the group because of his performances and also because he brings his way of influencing the game, through his decisions. He is an important player in the team and his words carry.

Essential holder… but where?

For some, the return of Romain Ntamack at the opening of the French XV is obvious, allowing 's 9-10-15 axis to be re-established in control of the Blues' game. For others, the performances of Thomas Ramos at the 10 position during the November matches reshuffled the cards.

“Thomas performed very well at number 10, he is also excellent at number 15. We now see that there is a real substitution between the 10 and the 15 in the forms of play, that is why It was quite natural for him to be in this position, he is often used to occupying this position during matches. It gives us this opportunity in the game but also in coaching, knowing that we have a player with this versatility. It’s an additional attraction,” continues Laurent Sempéré.

And while others have sometimes become the ideal replacements due to their ability to enter several positions during the match, it is hard to imagine that this would become the case for Thomas Ramos, the regular scorer for this French team.
