Genève-Servette is still skating sideways. In Lugano, the Genevans were beaten 5-2 by the bianconeri in a match between two clubs who urgently need points.
Once again, the Garnets paid a heavy price for their indiscipline. While they were leading, a little against the run of play, after a success by Praplan (12th) in numerical superiority, they collapsed at the end of the intermediate period, conceding three goals in 5’06.
Alatalo (35th), Patry (38th) and Thürkauf (40th) finally achieved Ticino domination. The 1-1 and the 3-1 fell while a Genevan was serving a minor penalty. Berni reduced the gap in the 46th, again during a power play, but Peltonen responded 1’13 later. Zohorna then put an end to all uncertainty (57th). Without a very inspired Robert Mayer in front of his net, the visitors would have suffered an even clearer defeat.
In the ranking, Genève-Servette remains stuck in 12th place with 50 points. Lugano follows two lengths behind.
