Nuri Sahin has been sacked as Borussia Dortmund coach. The club’s poor results prompted managers to take action. Sahin had only been in place since the summer of 2024.
The former BvB midfielder succeeded Edin Terzic, whose assistant he had been since January 2024. Last season, Dortmund reached the final of the Champions League. After the 2-0 defeat at Wembley against Real Madrid, Terzic announced his resignation.
Under the leadership of Sahin (36 years old), Borussia Dortmund have won only 12 matches in 27 official meetings. In the Bundesliga, the club languishes in a disappointing 10th place. In the Champions League, after his 2-1 loss on Tuesday in Bologna, he ranks 13th with 12 points. Gregor Kobel and his teammates have four defeats in a row, in all competitions.
The BvB has not yet revealed the identity of the person who will succeed Sahin. Since the departure of Jürgen Klopp in 2015, Dortmund will already experience a 9th change of coach.
