PSG has declared its ongoing financial dispute with Kylian Mbappé to UEFA, thus ruling out, in the short term, any threat from the European body.
UEFA relies on French justice in the PSG – Mbappé dispute
Something new in the financial dispute between PSG and Kylian Mbappé. While the player's entourage had asked the FFF to inform UEFA of its dispute with the Parisian club – which the French Football Federation had not done, PSG took the initiative of informing the European body of his “open dispute” with his former attacker.
This approach allows PSG to demonstrate transparency and comply with the UEFA regulation “on club licensing and financial viability”, which requires clubs participating in European Cups to provide a declaration confirming the total amount of debts owed to their staff, as well as the absence or existence of payment arrears.
The Kylian Mbappé dispute amounts to €98 million
According to L'Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain thus informed UEFA of the existence of an “open dispute” with Kylian Mbappé for an amount of 55.4 million euros, a sum which, once social charges and taxes included, reached 98 million euros. PSG having seized the Paris judicial court to contest two unfavorable decisions by LFP commissions, the club is not worried for the moment.
-UEFA does not intend to resolve this dispute until the French courts have ruled. The legal procedure can be long, PSG is therefore not subject to an immediate sanction and is gaining time to try to find an amicable agreement with its former player.
However, an amicable agreement does not seem imminent, since Mbappé maintains his position and has for his part contacted the FFF's higher appeals commission to try to obtain payment of the sums owed by PSG. For the moment, no hearing date has been set by this commission, and the case is suspended for the decision of the Paris judicial court.
